Episode 303 - Overstuffed Movie Delights

You'd think that with discussing long movies, Dave, Mikey & Pinky would make it a long episode. Ironically, it only takes them an hour to tell you about their favorite movies that clock in at 150 minutes or more.

And what discussion about being long winded would be complete without the long winded Film Historian himself, the Wit Stillman fan, the Brie Lover (Allison, Larsen & the cheese), the Terrance Malick Apologist and winner of the Nobel Prize for Proctology, Dr Earl.

Kicking off the episode, Birthday Movies reminds you of the fabulous films that came out in previous Novembers like Fred Claus (2007) and Starship Troopers (1997) and Piranha II (1982) and of course Dave's 50th favorite film of all time, The Bodyguard!

Plus, a great reminder of Dr Earl's official diagnosis concerning the death of Whitney Houston.

Then, a rousing game of Denzel, with names like Harrison Ford and Martin Starr and Sam Waterston and of course, Denzel Washington!

Then, the Top Five takes on "overstuffed" movies, as in, those movies running 2 and a half hours or longer.  The crew gives movies ranging from 153 minutes to a whopping 295 minutes... and if you watched all 20 of these films straight in a row, you'd be watching for almost 65 straight hours.

Overstuffed films like Magnolia... Heat... Short Cuts... a Lord of the Rings film... JFK... and if you've ever wondered what is the most Inuit movie ever made, please pull up a sitting room chair to Dr. Earl's pretentious corner.

Episode 301: MikeTober Coffee

The Deucecast Movie Show now begins the road to Episode 400, as we move past Ep 300 into Ep 301!  Mike, Dave and Pinky are in-studio, bringing back Friend of the Show, Wit Stillman Fan, Brie (Alison, Larsen & the cheese) Lover, Terence Malick Apologist, Film Historian #Twitterless Dr Earl!

And to kick off November and the holiday season, Friend of the Show, Delightful Guest Jennifer Kaufman calls in!

A rousing round of Chronology occurs, with categories like "Saving Private Ryan Ryan Ryan Ryan", "You Can Do EEET" and "AB-Solutely Fabulous".  Pinky dominates this game... can he keep it up?

Channeling our inner Left Behind with some Chris Tomlin and Kirk Cameron, The Deucecast Movie Show turns attention to those great films with a religious tone... be it matters of faith or cult or anything less, Dave, Mike & Pinky welcome back Witt Stillman Fan, Terrance Malick Apologist and Film Historian Dr Earl.

And for the first time on the show, co-host of the Cinemartyrs, a podcast about watching bad Christian films, Atlanta based Bill Seybolt (that's SY-BOLT, thank you very much) joins the guys on the Binder & Binder Hotline.  This, of course, brings the discussion back to Christian Mingle, Lacey Chebert, Stephen Toblowsky and a maritime themed agency.

Episode 233: If I Can Change & You Can Change...

It's a tradition like apple pie, hot dogs, baseball and Will Smith movies... The Deucecast Movie Show once again giving you an Americana themed episode, celebrating the best of patriotic, all American, we love this land kind of films.

Joining Pinky, Mikey & Dave in studio is the Terrence Malick apologist, film historian and Brie Larson crush-holder, the estimable Dr. Earl.

First, birthday movies will tell you how old "Legally Blonde" and "Kazaam" and "Point Break" all are, as they all came out in July of various previous years.

Then, reaching back to a game not played since The Deucecast Episode LXII, for the Independence Day week, a game called "American or Commie".  Who was born in America?  And who is foreign born, naturally making them a communist (for the purposes of this game, of course...).  And you'll find out where Tom Skerritt, Emilio Estevez and yes, Amy Adams hails from.

Episode 208: Comedy Confusion

Once again, the Deucecast Movie Show blackmails talks a great guest into coming on the show!

First, Dave, Mikey & Pinky welcome in Friend of the Show, Terence Malick Apologist and Film Historian Dr Earl to toss out some Birthday Movies, those films that came out this month five, ten, twenty years ago!  Because you needed to know how old Jean Claude Van Damme's Lionheart actually is, we are there for you.

Then, the guys talk all about Guilty Pleasure Comedies of the 2000s... unless you are Mikey, who did Legit Comedies of the 2000s... and unless you are Dr Earl, who did Comedies of the First 10 Years of the Century... and Pinky, who just showed up when he wanted to.

 Black Dynamite... Pitch Perfect... Zoolander... Bench Warmers and more and more.

Then, in reverse order, a little Ryan Phillippe Game going on before the show ends!

Conan the Barbarian makes an appearance in Pretty in Pink, while Pinky gets assigned another classic.

It's Christmas time and family is upon us as usual, meaning people everywhere, all over the house, getting all up in your way -- especially the kids.  So you need some safe movies to put on the TV for the children to watch, and we are here to help! And because we know you have a 1000 cartoons around, we make our list all non-animated.

Pinky, Mikey & d$ bring in the co-host of the Disney Nerds Podcast and the (sort of sometimes) host of the Delightful Life Podcast, Jennifer Kaufman!

After birthday movies (how old is Jumanji?!), Jennifer joins the guys for a spirited discussion on... Disney Bathrooms?  And Journey Into Imagination with Figment?  The secret of the pin board at the Pin Traders in Disney Springs?  Isn't this a movie show? What!?

A rousing round of Box Office Mojo gives us the lowdown on the biggest box office earners in 2015... then, we dive into The Good Dinosaur.

The group gives a great assortment of Non-Animated Family Films, including Muppet movies... The Santa Clause... The Goonies.. The Wizard of Oz... and a random appearance by Dr Earl helps the lists get even better! (The Descendants?!)

Episode 188: Independence Days

The 188th reiteration of The Deucecast Movie Show commences now!  Though Mikey, Pinky & d$ fancy themselves to be more mainstream, they do like a good indie film every now and then... problem is, more and more films are actually independent and not from a major studio...

What better way to wade through the madness than to call upon Terrance Malick fan and film historian Dr Earl AND Friend of the Show and Boyhood Apologist Jeremy Burgess!

Birthday movies kick off the show, as "Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole" is mentioned for one of the few times ever... five years old, I tell you!

Indie films is the topic, and among our favorite independent films tossed out are classics like Clerks and Memento and The Blair Witch and yes... a romantic comedy about Greek love, from executive producer Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson.

Then, America's favorite classic film review, Pretty in Pink, as Young Pinky gives his review of the football masterpiece, "Necessary Roughness" with Scott Bakula and Robert Loggia... and yes, Kathy Ireland. In her prime.

Welcome back to The Deucecast Movie Show! We wanted to do a documentary topic but struggled on how to do it right... so we not only broke this up into two shows, but we called in an expert!

Joining d$, Pinky & Mikey, along with Terrence Malick apologist and Movie Historian Dr. Earl, is none other than Remodeling Clay Shaver, host of the Remodeling Clay podcast, who is a great resource for such a genre!

After a rousing game of Rotten Tomatoes, we dive straight into classic documentaries... films about William Wilburforce (?!)... the making of one of the worst films ever made... behind the scenes at a classic haunted hotel film... one of the most infuriating, heartbreaking stories ever told... a guy getting really high... and much more.
