Episode 633: My Favorite Summer... The Dramas

The second part of My Favorite Summer brings the drama this week -- as the Deucecast Movie Show crew gives their own list of the serious stories from the world of cinema.

Joining Mikey, d$, and #XLessDrEarl is the co-host of the Good Day 4 a Movie Podcast, Jacob Roth, aka Roth from Wyoming, as they chit-chat and then play a round of a game not played in these here parts in a while -- The Ryan Phillippe Game returns for the first time since 2022.

Then, the Top Ten Fave Dramatic Films... everyone has their own description, as some movies may be more of a dramedy than a drama... or maybe it's listed under drama for one, but will be in another category for another.

Legendary films like The Godfather make a few lists, 90s capers like True Romance is discussed, a tragedy unfolds in one film, a fort is defending in another, and movies from as far back as 1966 are covered, all the way up to last year.

Deucecast Classic: The Political Movies

This week, we drop an episode that premiered on November 6th, 2016, including d$, Mikey, #TwitterlessDrEarl, and Pinky (!) -- these are the original show notes from that episode, or find it here. 

It's election season here in 'Merica, and to recognize, Mikey, Pinky, and Dave are talking favorite political films!  And who better to bring in to discuss such movies than the President of the Pretentious
Corner, the Witt Stillman fan, the Film Historian, the Terence Malick Apologist himself, the honorable Dr Earl.

First up, a round of The Ryan Phillippe Game, where you have to name all the films of a certain actor like Kurt Russell, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Owen Wilson or Charlize Theron and more.

And then... fave political movies!   People trying to win an election!  Leaders trying to stop a war!  Superheroes trying to stay on the right side of America!  Movies like Lincoln!  Argo!  Wag the Dog! Captain America Civil War!

A great recommendation for the movie "Failsafe" as well, if you can find it, and for "Eye in the Sky", which is now available on Netflix.

Episode 423: The Directors Draft

In a final episode together (for now, anyway), Mikey and Dave take a look at the studio draft... first, the guys drafted the best Actors around for their own studios.  Then, then best actresses.

And now, the guys pick their favorite directors. And like always, the Spawn of Ryfun, the Lowercase G who now is a Big G, calls in to select the directors to direct their films.

Episode 406: DeuceGiving 2019

It's hard to believe the year is almost over!  And you can tell how fast time flies because it's time for the annual DeuceGiving episode!  Mikey and Dave celebrate Thanksgiving by listing the things in movies and Hollywood they are thankful for.

First up, they play a little game of Ryan Phillippe, using an Actor Randomizer to find who gets the play...

Then, the thanks... So many streaming services... the ending of legendary roles... a (silent) return to excellence.. movies that are good... and so much more.

And of course, the Deucecast Movie Show says THANK YOU to the fans, the listeners, and anyone who has ever acknowledged that the show exists. 

Episode 354: DeuceGiving 2018

Once a year, the crew from The Deucecast Movie Show roll into the Deucecast Studios for one purpose: To record more shows. But beyond that, to say Thank You to the things Mikey, Dave & #TwitterlessDrEarl appreciated the most in 2018. It a very DeuceGiving Thanksgiving.

First is catching up with Dr Earl, after his world travels with Doctors Without Borders Doing Borderless Doctor Things, then a quick look ahead to the big Thanksgiving events for everyone.

Mikey questions the team on cranberry sauce, Dr Earl gives his choice and Dave balks at all of it.

A look ahead at the Thanksgiving movies dropping in the days ahead, while Mikey reviews the new version of The Grinch.

Movies Made into TV Series

On this episode of The Deucecast Movie Picture Show... Mikey, Pinky & d$ once again join forces to fight the evils of non-movie watching, to promote the good of movie watching, and to discuss lots and lots of movies watched.

In ReFlicktions, bringing up the films seen in the last two weeks, the guys hit a number of titles, including "View From the Top"... "Mud"... "CLUE"... "The Evil Dead", the original.... "The World's End"... "Spy Kids 2: The Island of Lost Dreams"... and a bunch of indy films that Mikey loved, like "Muscle Shoals" and "Zero Charisma".

The topic today included movies that were turned into television shows, like "Ferris Bueller"... "The Real Ghostbusters"... a few of the 403 "Stargate" reiterations... and d$'s love of "Muppet Babies".  Some tackled it from the angle of "good movies that were turned into good and bad shows", and we also hit the side of "eh movies turned into good tv shows", like "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", to which Pinky had no idea that it was, in fact, a movie first.

The guys also touch on the movies that were assigned to them to see, including "Side Effects"... "Muriel's Wedding"... and an odd film that Pinky will put into his DVD collection from here on out.

The Ryan Phillippe Game returns, with Mikey, d$ and Pinky battling it out as to who can name the most films of a given actor, and in a new twist on "See This, Not That", names and topics are tossed out at random via the "Magic Movie Wheel".

Finally, d$ ends the show on a personal note, with a non-movie related topic, but is still good to hear...
