Episode 425: ReFlicktions and TV Time Too

The second week of quarantine recording brings Mikey, #TwitterlessDrEarl, and Dave back to their respective Deucecast Central, Deucecast ER, and Deucecast Cabanas, to give a quick recap of the movies that have been seen in the last few weeks.

Mikey was able to catch just a few films in the theaters before the lockdown, while Dave and #TwitterlessDrEarl slum it up on conventional TV screens....

In ep 239, from August 2016, the TechnoRetro Dad co-host Shaz joins Mikey, Dave, Pinky & Dr Earl to talk about their favorite childhood TV shows that they want to see turn into movies... everything from The Wonder Years to The Greatest American Hero, from Morgan Freeman as a possible KITT to Christian Slater as a Hogan Hero.  And, thanks to d$, lots of Katherine Heigl.

Episode 239: TV into Movies (ft Shazbazzar!)

If you've ever watched a classic television show from the 70s or 80s and thought "Man, this would be a great movie!" then this is The Deucecast Movie Show episode for you!

Mikey, Dave and Pinky first welcome in Terrance Malick Apologist and Film Historian Dr Earl, and welcome back to the Perry King Studios none other than TechnoRetro Dads co-host Shazbazzar!  

First up, the birthday movies, including August 1986, which was a gold mine of classic films all released in a few weeks of each other.

Next... playing a game called Chronology, with categories like "Whats My Nam, Yo!" and "Its Gonna Be Huuuughes", naming the correct order of films release dates.

And finally... a collection of television shows from the 70s and 80s that the hosts and guests would love to see turned into a film... imagine a big screen version of Perfect Strangers... or The Wonder Years... or Six Million Dollar Man... or even a classic 80s game show turned into a thriller.  And Dave does his best to make sure a certain beloved actress gets some work!  Plus, who would be better as KITT... Samuel Jackson or Morgan Freeman?   

Can Christian Slater be a Hogan Hero?  Can Jeffrey Dean Morgan be a Haitian priest?  And who is the Scarecrow and who is Mrs King?  

And Dave talks about the dream cast of a classic anime film... and discussions of fitting a long series into a 2 hour film, and Stephen King's upcoming works.  And bonus, a sampling of some classic theme songs!

Forget Everything You Think You Know!!!!  A few weeks back, after the debacle that was Batman Vee Superman Dawn of Justice, the movie guys had a long discussion on the good (not much) and bad (much) on DC movies.

With Pinky out on location filming his first movie, Dave and Mikey welcome in friend of the show, Terrence Malick Apologist and Film Historian Dr Earl, and welcome back to the studio the Rantmaster Extraordinaire Hurricane Rhett to discuss Marvel movies.

It's another step closer to silencing the critics who said we'd never make it to 100... or those who never said we'd make it to 10.  That includes Hurricane Rhett, who joins us tonight for our 98th journey into the airwaves of eternal podcastial lore and love.

We kick it off by answering the age ol' question... can you still poke on Facebook?  d$ finds out.  We hear another word from our sponsor, and we begin our regaling of sordid tales of StadiumFest and if Switchfoot ducked the Jesus word... what is the name of that Christian clown guy?!.... more trips to the zoo for Mikey and the family... K-Mart's brilliant, edgy ad (and whether we've ever heard the words "edgy", "brilliant" and "K-Mart" in concurrent usage in a sentence... the difference in bike helmets and storm helmets... and McDonald's customer service problem.




Mikey has some band that sounds like a mexican Lisa Loeb... d$ has not one, but TWO palet cleansers... and we dive into the Final Four of the Awesome Bracket...

Movies discussed tonight include "The Place Beyond the Pines"... "Green Lantern" (!)... "American Loser"... "Django Unchained"... "The Campaign"... and the possibility of Dr. Earl's favorite movie getting a sequel... that's right, the Terrance Malick/Method Man collaboration of a possible second "How High" movie.

We dive Deuce-first into the 24th episode of our show, with Mikey displaying his love of Sarah Michelle Geller, his dis-love for no air conditioning and his wonder at his baby's fighting skills. Matt takes over and discusses the cat's electronic accidents, a "Thor" second viewing and "Running Wilde". And d$ steps in and gives his thoughts on the Opp, AL, Best Western hotel and his weekend with family.

Mikey presents the Potluck Sportasbord, with Cowboy coverage, d$ throws out a beloved classic as Buried Treasure (92% yo!) and Matt's Music covering the music of "Sons of Anarchy".

The Big Three was a great discussion on 9/11 Patriotism, mostly centered around movies where an American Hero--John Rambo, Indiana Jones, President Mitchell--kicks the butt of a some stupid foreigner.  Where else would you hear d$'s two bad Russian impressions in a row? "Pay de mahn eez mahney..." and "you are so beddy beddy good and we are so beddy beddy bad..." in the show.
