Episode 534: Take My ReFlicktions Away

When Mikey, d$, and #TwitterlessDrEarl only have about 20 movies between them, thereby ensuring the ReFlicktions would be fairly short. We can't have that, so let's invite in the Pride of Kennesaw and the Spawn of Scotty Ryfun, the Lil G himself Garrison Ryfun.

We are here to spill the beans, no spoilers, plus discuss other hot topics like...

The simplicity of early Fantastic Four... #TwitterlessDrEarlsPretentiousCorner... Liam's too old... if Anna Paquin deserved her Oscar... Lucy Deakins whereabouts... old vs new Firestarter... Zac Efron's potential and what he needs to be in... surprising Jason Biggs... a rewatch of Tom Cruise... catching up with Rick Rossovich and Whip Hubley... Channing Tatum's RUFF watch... and the IP of Chip & Dale's Rescue Rangers...

Plus, Garrison can't get away from Take My Breath Away...

Episode 533: Aerial Dogfights

In just a week or so, the Deucecast Guys enter into the Danger Zone again, at a preview for Top Gun, so that leads the discussion to TOP FIVE DOGFIGHTS in movie history.  Snoop, Snoopy, The Bounty Hunger or Junkyard are not included.  A task too big for just d$, Mikey, and #TwitterlessDrEarl, so who do they turn to?  Of course, Hurricane Rhett, because this show has been on the rails way, way too long.

First, memories of the original Top Gun... where did everyone see it?  How young, and how many zippers were on those parachute pants?

Then, the top five movies with aerial battles, mostly featuring planes, but some with helicopters, even some fists, and a stealth fighter named Firefox.

Mikey has the Zoa on tap... Memphis Belle's true mission... the Time Vortex... Ken Olin gets a namedrop... USA Night Flight... the badness of Pearl Harbor... the goodness of Dunkirk... Mikey's weird voices... ID4 mistakes... AirWolf vs Blue Thunder, featuring Riptide... All the Iron Eagles...

  • Dunkirk (HBO Max; Netflix)
  • The Final Countdown (Peacock)
  • Firebirds (Hoopla; for rental)

Episode 532: The Baseball Movie Role Tourney

BATTER UP!  Baseball has begun, 30 games into the season, Dave's team, Baltimore, is already out of it, Mikey doesn't care because Dallas Cowboys play the foosball and not the baseball, and #TwitterlessDrEarl is out and about, saving lives, delivering babies and politicking.

So, we bring in Roth from Wyoming, co-host of Good Day for a Movie Podcast, and Deucecast Discorder Extraordinaire, to help figure out which one of these 32 incredible baseball roles head to the Big Bracket of Ep 600!

First up, the return of WORD UP! to the show -- discussions on Doctor Strange, on Netflix failings, and Top Gun Maverick prospects. Plus, some other random chitter chatter before the  tourney takes over.

Roth, Mikey, and d$ set out to determine the best modern day baseball role in movie history, with everything from Wild Thing to a double dose of Costner to Tony Danza and Tom Selleck and Bernie Mac and a few chicks even make the final line up. Great discussion, great film memories.

Episode 531: Actors Who Did the Footballs

Now that all the 2021 lists are over, and the ReFlicktions for last month have been ReFlickted, its time to finally move forward with new lists, new topics, and old movies to discuss!

In honor of this year's NFL Draft, which just happened and to which likely 2 of the 3 Deucecasters (Dave, Mikey, Dr Earl) have no idea who was #1 (Minka Kelly, maybe?), it's time to talk a little football acting.

First up, a little May the Fourth Be With You chitchat, then the return of The Rotten Tomatoes Game (and the first mention of Knute Rocke in 531 eps), then, this week's Top Five... Football Players (college and pro) who turned to acting. Some cameo roles (as in, why Brett Favre is in Miami) and Bernie Casey gets a nod and a few names Rock multiple lists and even Burt Reynolds shows up.

Plus... both Robert Urich and John Metuszak might be making their debut mentions. Maybe. Unclear.
