Episode 585: Comedic Actors, Dramatic Roles

After a successful summer last year, a summer of the fans, a... FanboySummer if you will, we decided if it worked once, it's gotta work again, right?  I mean, look at Zoolander Too!  And Blair Witch Project! And Thor Love & Thunder! If we struck gold once, it's bound to happen again!

Thus, FanboySummer Part Deuce!

And in our first of 9 Fanboy Summer eps, we welcome in Jonathan Hile of the Captain's Log & Lightsaber Podcast!

Up first, the return of the DbIMDb game, taking on the algorithm of what IMDb thinks is most popular.  A little catch up with Hile, discussing the podcast, and then a dive into the Top 5 topic...

Tonight, a take on actors known for their comedic chops who give incredible dramatic turns in certain roles - be it a serious legacy only to turn to comedy, then back to drama (Leslie Nielsen) or someone who had been dabbling in the drama all along, but was only really known for their comedy prowess (Robin Williams) or even someone finding their footing in Hollywood (Jennifer Aniston) and even more.

Stick around for a great little bit on Adventures by Disney because why not.

Episode 583: The Movie Role Duo Mega Tourney

As the Big Bracket draws near, with Episode 600 a mere 17 episodes and a summer season away, it's time to crank up the entries... and what better way to bring in a plethora, a cornucopia, a tundra if you will of iconic roles, than to have a Mega Tourney with over 60 famous and beloved characters from cinema and film and movie flicker shows...

But to do something so big, we have to have a big roster of Friends of the Show... Spawn of Ryfun, Lil G, Garrison.... the father of the Spawn of Ryfun, that being Scotty RyRy... and the pride of The Beaches of Cheyenne, Roth from Wyoming.

Together with d$, Mikey, and #TwitterlessDrEarl, they dive in to figure out the battles between View Askew and Aurora, Illinois... between dimwits and stoners... between classic duos both odd and slapsticky...

And Garrison makes a surprise turn in his quest to see Ethan Hunt win the whole tourney. A betrayal if you will.

Episode 582: Ranking the MCU Last 10

It's the end of an era in the MCU, as Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 has just hit theaters - and it's the last hurrah of the Marvel Cinematic Universe group of characters that link audiences to the Infinity Saga... sure, some heroes will carry over, but it does feel like we are saying good-bye to the MCU as we know it.

But what kind of ending is it, and how does it stack up against the rest of the MCU films released since Avengers: Endgame?

That's what the Deucecast crew aims to find out -- with Mikey, Dave, and #TwitterlessDrEarl on the show, and Young Spawn of Ryfun, the Pride of Albany, GA, Lil G, but now he's a Big G, fresh off of his prom and headed to Senior Portraits, Garrison Ryfun joins the show to discuss and rank in their own top tens those very films.

Starting with Spider-Man Far From Home, then to Black Widow, where the show picks up another guest, one Steve Glosson, who comes in to present his own list.

Then the Shang-Chi, Eternals, Spider-Man No Way Home, then Doctor Strange & the Multiverse of Madness, with Thor Love & Thunder, Black Panther Wakanda Forever, then Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania, and ending with Guardians 3, it's a long discussion, but a worthwhile one.

Plus, everyone but Steve (who questions as to whether he's seen it or not) also give their own quick review on Guardians 3 (SPOILER FREE, by the way).

And stick around for the ending, which goes off the rails as usual, from who gets invited to the show, Mikey's dismissal of Scotty Ryfun's concerns, Punisher movies, TMNT movies, Cannonball Run Criterion Collections and so much more. And of course, Casey's Biggest Hits.

Pride of Kennesaw, Young G Ryfun... the destroyer of asinine conversation, Hurricane Rhett... and Podcast Poobah of the Geek Out Loudoverse, Steve Glosson. Joining up later, Dave pipes in for a few at the end.

The crew covers everything from the good and the bad, the return of Return of the Jedi, a little Transformers news, some Harry Potter stuff, and Garrison gives his surprising take on Bill Cosby.
