Episode 441: The Sidekick Show

The summertime rolls on and in this world, all we have is our friends... including our sidekicks!  Mikey, Dave, and #TwitterlessDrEarl welcome back the Pride of Stone Mountain, Georgia, Lil G, the Podawan Learning, the Spawn of Ryfun, young Garrison.

First up, a few birthday movies, including the year that gave us not only Joe Dirt 2, but also Pixels, then the anniversary of Fantastic Four (not that one, that one), Apollo 13, Red Sonja, and the film that made Bo Svenson a star.

Then a round of Word Up!, giving the word on Marvel movie movement... the concern over tentpole films... seeing Empire Strikes Back's big success... and of course, the real definitive movie of the 90s (hint: probably not Twister).

And then, the best movie comedic Sidekicks!  Disney movies, The Pink Panther, Stanley Spedowski, Noonan!, and much more. And Mikey tries to put forth another ridiculous entry into a Top Five.

Plus, a surprise visit from an old, much thinner, Friend of the Show.

Episode 440: Patriotic Roles 2: The Patrioettes

Because America rules, it's another episode of The Deucecast Movie Show!  Last week, Dave, Mikey, and #TwitterlessDrEarl, with special guest Lil G Ryfun, the pride of South TyTy Georgia, gave their lists of the most patriotic roles in movies... and a funny thing happened -- they all seemed to be dudes.

So what better way to reconcile this blunder than to do an all female list of patriotic roles, which, like last week, is really just a list of awesome American characters in films that all the guys decided to dub "patriotic", but #Merica anyway.

First up, though, a rousing game of Ryan Phillippe, with everyone from Sigourney Weaver to one Christopher Pratt being called out.

Then, the list, which includes Mikey's total misunderstanding (and defense of Padme)... #TwitterlessDrEarl goes old school again... who won what award in Hidden Figures and The Help... Lil G Ryfun squeezes in a Nolan... Emily Blunt gets double action... an Amy Adams discussion and it's not from d$... and much more.

Where the movies discussed on this episode are streaming at the time of this recording:

Episode 437: The Top 10 of the 2010s

It's another episode of The Deucecast Movie Show, this time, a very special episode. But unlike the "very special episodes" of the 80s where kids are put into uncomfortable situations, Mikey, Dave, and #TwitterlessDrEarl pay off a promise from earlier in the year.

Back in February, episodes 418 and 419, Burgess joined the team to do two "Decade By Genre" shows, giving the top three of multiple categories, with intentions of doing a full Top Ten of the 2010s. Then, as you may have guessed, the world went crazy then shut down, and as the guys went to the four corners of the wind to do the show, the topic got shelved.

Finally, however, The Top 10 of the 2010s is here!

First up, the return of Birthday Movies, with everything from Minions to Crimson Tide to Animalypics to Psycho all celebrating release anniversaries, then a quick round of the Rotten Tomatoes Game, dedicated to the recently passed and prolific director Joel Schumacher.

And then, the list that took ten years to make -- any movie released at 12:01am on Jan 1, 2010 to 11:59pm on Dec 31, 2019 -- and the lists are all over the place -- comic book movies, action movies, missionary dramas, Nolan, Scorcese, Garland, Fincher, and much more. Great conversation about films that are talked about and beloved from the last ten years.

Here's where to find movies discussed, at current time of recording:
  • American Hustle (FX Now)
  • Avengers Infinity War (Disney+)
  • Batman Forever (HBO Max)
  • Birdman (rental)
  • Blade Runner 2049 (rental)
