Episode 242: Sidewalk Fest & Fall Preview

Fall is here and with it, the Birmingham area Sidewalk Film Festival comes to town with all sort of new independent films for us to discuss. We also cover our most anticipated fall movies that are hitting the cinemas. Mikey, Dave and Pinky welcome in Terrence Malick Apologist and Film Historian Dr Earl as well as the millennial indie film nerd, Jeremy Burgess.

First up, the birthday movies show that before 2011, September was not a great month for films with the likes of Glitter, Bulletproof and Megiddo: The Omega Code 2 hitting theaters (though 50/50, Moneyball and The Descendants brought it.

A rousing game of Western Rotten Tomatoes (Quigley Down Under has what rating??) takes place with a thrilling finish, and then onto Sidewalk...

Pinky & Burgess give their take on the best films (and maybe worst) to come out of the local movie festival, including a return of "Raiders", a beloved film called "Little Sister", a fowl film called "Chicken People", and a crazy doc called "Kate becomes Christine"

Then the fall preview, giving the Top Five Most Anticipated, with upcoming films with Emily Blunt... Ben Affleck's autistic turn... interracial love... Amy Adams (whom Dave is dating) doing a double turn in two movies with lots of potential... a random discussion on racism with Birth of a Nation... being hesitant on Doctor Strange... and the great cast of The Magnificent Seven.

Plus a rundown of other films coming out.

And America's favorite segment where Pinky watches classic films, Pretty in Pink, returns with a take on Road House.
