Episode 532: The Baseball Movie Role Tourney

BATTER UP!  Baseball has begun, 30 games into the season, Dave's team, Baltimore, is already out of it, Mikey doesn't care because Dallas Cowboys play the foosball and not the baseball, and #TwitterlessDrEarl is out and about, saving lives, delivering babies and politicking.

So, we bring in Roth from Wyoming, co-host of Good Day for a Movie Podcast, and Deucecast Discorder Extraordinaire, to help figure out which one of these 32 incredible baseball roles head to the Big Bracket of Ep 600!

First up, the return of WORD UP! to the show -- discussions on Doctor Strange, on Netflix failings, and Top Gun Maverick prospects. Plus, some other random chitter chatter before the  tourney takes over.

Roth, Mikey, and d$ set out to determine the best modern day baseball role in movie history, with everything from Wild Thing to a double dose of Costner to Tony Danza and Tom Selleck and Bernie Mac and a few chicks even make the final line up. Great discussion, great film memories.

MOVIES DISCUSSED IN THIS EP:

  • Angels in the Outfield
  • The Babe
  • Bad News Bears
  • Brewster's Millions
  • Bull Durham
  • Cobb
  • Eight Men Out
  • Field of Dreams
  • For Love of the Game

Episode 475: The 10th Anniversary Show

It's been ten long, crazy years and 1000s of movies, lots of video games, several third wheel co-hosts and 475 episodes, it's The Deucecast Movie Show's 10th Anniversary! Mikey, Dave, and #TwitterlessDrEarl ring in the next decade with an episode that looks at the best films of 2011!

First, Birthday Movies return, with the films released 5, 10, 15, 20 and more years ago in April of those years - Along Came a Spider, Primal Fear, Out for Justice and Bad News Bears is how old?

Rotten Tomatoes themed game centered around the movies released in early April, around the time The Deucecast Episode I: The Podcast Menace was dropped onto the world.

And then, the Top Ten Fave Films of 2011, as ranked by your hosts.  From documentaries about tort reform to MMA movies to baseball sabremetrics to Marvel superheroes to how to get into the Dune canon.

Plus, stick around to the end for a little soundbyte of the beginning.

And thanks to RetroZap for keeping us around for five years, and to all of our listeners for 10 years of listening!!

Episode 379: Baseball Scenes

Batter up!!  The baseball season is in full swing, with the oil of the leather gloves, the seams of the baseball, the smell of the fresh cut grass, and the nonsensical nonsense of hosts Mikey and Dave for another exciting episode of The Deucecast!

To discuss baseball, however, they need to get in someone who has some credibility -- like baseball author, Royals enthusiast and new Friend of the Show Ethan Bryan!

The guys discuss baseball from the outset, including Ethan's love of baseball and baseball movies.

Then, the topic at hand is Top Five Baseball Scenes, and the guys celebrate films and key scenes from movies like Major League (Taylor bunts!) and Bull Durham (a place setting...) and even a Few Good Men (you're charging him with possession of a condiment?)

So get your popcorn and cracker jacks, and enjoy the show since we'll always come back.
