Episode 647: Our All Time 10 Ten Favorite Films

It's the unofficial end to the summer series, dropping a day or two before summer actually ends -- but we waited until #XLessDrEarl was back in studio!  And here he is, joining d$ and Mikey as they count down their all time 10 favorite films ever (and give 11 thru 20 later on in the show)

Mikey and d$ have a recap of the All Time Top 10 given in Eps 214 and 218 (back in March of 2016), but for #XLessDrEarl, its a brand new list that none of us had ever heard.

And after a lengthy discussion on the films of Ernest, we dive in to the all time top ten... of course there is some crossover, and a little movement from previous lists to now -- and only a smattering of pretention.  You'll hear about Harry Ford and Michael Mann. Some Tom Hanks and Audrey Hepburn.  Morgan Freeman and Play It Again Sam... films from 1942 all the way up to 2010.

It was a great list to discuss and we'd love to know YOUR faves too.

Here are movies discussed and where to find them streaming at time of recording:

Episode 592: The Actor 1-2-3 Punch

Like sand through the hourglass, this is the Deuce of our Lives... because summer is whizzing by faster than you can name 14 straight Tom Hanks banger movies. #FanboySummer2023 rolls on as the latest loser winner guest joins the show -- returning Friend of the Show, Roth from Wyoming!

Lots to get to on this show, including catching up with Roth and his latest ventures... then some birthday movies, including the incredible news that Seabiscuit is 20 years old!

A brand new game -- Everything Everywhere All At Once Upon a Time in Hollywood -- makes its debut on the show, as the crew pairs up movie titles for points.

Finally, Mikey, d$, #TwitterlessDrEarl, and Roth give their favorite 1-2-3 Punch for actors... that is, which actors had the best back to back to back hit films, from double doses of Harry Ford to tripling up on our fave Katie Holmes ex... which leads to Mikey's own theme for the episode, in memory of Garrison Ryfun, of course.

Stick around throughout the episode to hear about Roth's charitable work with RISE Foundation of Wyoming and how you can help!

(Way too many movies to list their streaming sources - you can do your work this week)

Ep 222: Whoever's in New England with Joe Tavano

Taking the podcast to a Southie Direction, Mikey, Dave and Pinky bring in fellow movie lover, geek and all around cool dude Joe Tavano, the founder of RetroZap Podcasting Network.

As the guys begin, a brand new game emerges... "NAME THAT SEAGAL".  Can you tell one Steven Seagal movie from another?  It's harder than you think...

Diving into Boston Films, movies set in and around the Boston area take center stage... classics like "The Town", "The Departed" and even "Celtic Pride"... okay, maybe not all three of those make it.  And Joe, being from the area, gives the down-low on several films like "Jaws", "Mystic River" and even "Fever Pitch".  Plus, the trend of mid-80's New England beach films that feature boats and regattas.

And what to expect when John Laroquette is atop your movie poster.

Bonus!  What song might be Boston' theme song? Well Dave has no idea, but that doesn't stop him from trying, does it?

And don't forget to check out some our favorite shows on RetroZapped.Com, like Skywalking Through Neverland, TechnoRetro Dads, Brews & Blasters and others!

Episode 219: The Mt Rushmore of Actors

The Deucecast Movie Show records once again from the Deucecast Studios in Meadowbrook, Alabama, and this time it's a quick 1/2 hour... just enough to fill your Deuce Cup.

First, a brand new game called "The Rename Game", finding out what movie could also be called "The Ocho With a Negative Disposition"

The main event in this episode is the Mount Rushmore of Actors.  Now that the gang has given their all time 100 favorite films, its time to find out what films belong on each guy's "Mt Rushmore of Actors"... the four favorite actors of all time.  Names like Ford... Connery... DiCaprio... and The Rock.  And of course, Cage.  Always Cage. Naturally Cage.

Plus, the sad state of affairs with Pacino & DeNiro... and which actor is considered "Comfort Food"... and Mikey gets morbid about the mortality of acting icons...

Episode 214: All Time Top Ten Favorite Films Part 1

Note: The audio on this one is flaky with the call-in guest.  Just suffer through it! It's worth it!!

Finally... it's here!  Dave, Mikey & Pinky have entered the Top Ten in our year long series of our Top 100 favorite films... and because it's so monumental, the Deucecast Movie Show gang had to bring in two of their favorite dozen or so guests -- Local Birmingham filmmaker Jeremy Burgess and host of the Remodeling Clay podcast Clay Shaver -- to give senseless... er, senseful films.

But first, a rousing game of Chronology, with great categories like "The Mitten"... "Bale-Out"... "Mikey Likey"... and of course, the always loved "Potent Potables".

Starting with a reminder of how each of the participants came up with their own Top Ten.

Jeremy offers up a John Carpenter masterpiece, talks about his favorite horror films and the movie that "is underrated for being overrated" and possible "date rapey".

Pinky falls in love with Anna Kendrick and cancer, talks about a movie fetish and lists the best Rings film...

Clay discusses a Vietnam classic, his best Kevin Smith and a quintessential buddy cop film...

Dave has more Anna Kendrick meets airport stories, celebrates a sinking ship and an Elton John song...

and Mikey feels some heat, feels some Breakfast and has some romance. Some True Romance.

Also, Kate Hudson may or may not come on our show, ever...

Next, how lowly ranked should "Pulp Fiction" actually be?

And... coming soon, a new reality show called... "The Burgeler"?

Episode 213: The 2016 Oscar Prediction Show

It's our annual Oscar show!  Here is the official Oscar ballot, and our Oscar predictions... follow along with the latest episode of The Deucecast Movie Show, as Mikey, Dave & Pinky make their choices.  The one who gets the most right during Sunday's awards gets to pick one very bad, very obnoxiously horrible film for the other two to watch.
This is why Pinky & Dave had to watch "The Hillz", starring Paris Hilton, last year.  Let's not let this happen again.
Plus, a little bonus show as Dave, Mikey & Pinky highlight the Deucie nominations and make predictions for the main categories.

Oscar Tally -
Mikey - 15-9
Pinky - 13-11
Dave - 12-12
