Episode 331: Magic City Con 2018 Live Show

Coming from the Magic City Con (the biggest comic book nerd fest in Birmingham that weekend, we promise), The Deucecast Movie Show presents a fun show full of cool this week.

First, Michael and Dave, sans #TwitterlessDrEarl (on missions to El Salvador doing open heart surgeries), are in a featured live show, with a live audience!  A great round of Simple Star Wars Trivia opens up the show, then the guys give their top 5 of the week, Fave Disaster Movies... in honor of the upcoming "Skyscraper", which is DieHard in a building.

Armageddon!  Deep Impact!  Twister!  2012!  And many more disasters on screen both in great and not so great film.

After the panel ends, the guys catch up with AMC's "Comic Book Men's" co-star Ming Chen for a quick 20 minutes chat about DC and Marvel, best comic book to movie translations and fun Star Wars stuff.

Then, Mikey has 20 minutes with actor Jeremy London, notable for 7th Heaven, Mallrats and Gods & Generals.

Overall, it was a great con and a great episode full of movie and pop culture!

Episode 284: The Magic City Con Live Show

It's the annual live show, straight from the podcast panel at the 2017 Magic City Con in Birmingham, AL!   Dave, Mikey & Pinky bring their Movie Chatter to a live audience, along with the Lover of Brie (Alison, Larsen & Cheese), Terence Malick Apologist, Film Historian and Wit Stillman Fan Dr Earl.  And sitting at the table with the guys is TechnoRetro Dads co-host Shazbazzar.

The show focuses on Guilty Pleasure Comic Book Movies... everyone loves The Dark Knight and The Avengers and Captain America... but not everyone loves... The Losers?  Green Hornet?  Batman 66'?? AND... Superman III.  Because Pinky is there.

Joining the panel along the way is Marvel actor John Anderson, known as a Ravager in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 along with many other bit parts along the way, and in the audience, Geek Out Loud Poobah (podbah?) Steve Glosson!

The all star panel talks about, among other things, Dave's issue with the Wonder Woman/BvS continuity... Bud the C.H.U.D.... The Stuff... Garth & K.A.R.R.... Gotham City vs Metropolis... The original predator... Affleck's Daredevil... Sean Connery's last film... How Jonah Hill can win an Oscar... miscasting Sue Storm... the first mention of Simon Says ever on the podcast... watching movies with Dr. Earl... calling Zoe Saldana a "loser"... the A-Team theme... Solarbabies and Jami Gertz... the Richard Pryor Theory on Superman III... Rocky III Sly Stallone...

And a live version of The Rotten Tomatoes game with audience members!

Episode 232: PinkFlicktions

In the bowels of the Magic City Con (re: an hijacked side office room), Mikey, Pinky & Dave come together to do a bonus ReFlicktions ep, this time featuring all the movies Pinky didn't get to chat about in the last few episodes.

Topics include... The lack of songs that are written directly for movies now... liking James Gunn... the making of (and the crap that is) Warcraft... Pinky's Tom Hanks List... Nic Cage's bad southern accent... more Apocalypse talk... Pinky's Marvel talk... and much more...

Movies discussed in this episode:

Bowfinger... Gremlins... The Right Stuff... Mad Max (1979)... Winter's Bone... Slither... Warcraft... Money Monster... Wall Street... Disney's Hercules... The Money Pit... Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising... Turner & Hooch... Joe vs The Volcano... Con Air... The Nice Guys... X-Men Apocalypse... Alice: Through the Looking Glass... Eye in the Sky... Killing Zoe... Episode 231: Cult Classic Films - The Live Show

Coming to you live and recorded from a small side room (and not the promised main stage, but who's counting...) at the annual Magic City Con in Birmingham, Alabama, it's The Deucecast Movie Show!
Dave, Mikey and Pinky hold court to first do a quick audience participation version of The Rotten Tomatoes Game, then the main segment kicks off.

It's "Cult Classic Films", however you may define it.  Movies that the guys feel that have quite a following, movies that aren't forgotten, movies that really define a slice of a generation.

Enjoy the live show!  And remember those films that somehow have kept being popular and beloved...
