Episode 620: Let's Dune This... March ReFlicktions

The awards season is almost over - we've got a few days until the Academy Awards, and another day or so after until the nominations for the real awards, the Deucies

Until then, it's time to talk about the films that have been viewed, seen, watched, absorbed and enjoyed in the last month or so... and on the heels of the biggest movies the year -- Dune 2 -- its time to talk about it!

First up, a few birthday movies - what did come out in March in 2019, 2014, 1994, 1979 and so on... including the first mention of "Wing Commander" in what is likely a very long time.

Then, we dive right in, showcasing classic movies like "Safety Last" and "Gimme Shelter" and Oscar bait, like "Maestro" and "Strays" and fresh on the screen, like "Spaceman" and yes, the full review of the crapfests known as "Argylle" and "Madame Web".

Plus, Rachel McAdams in a period piece... Dr Earl enjoying the Barb... why Michael hates "May December" so much... and could Carey Mulligan make every single thing she's in just that much better?

And finally, the long lost return of Assigned Films, introducing the "Time Bandits" rule.

Episode 515: The January ReFlicktions Part One

If you thought the beginning of the year meant a slow down in movies seen by The Deucecast Movie Show crew -- Mikey, d$, and Dr. Earl -- then you obviously don't know these guys very well.

The year starts with a bang with a heaping helping of film reviews, both new -- Spidey, West Side Story, Swan Song -- and old -- To the Wonder, Ernest -- and many, many more...

So many, in fact, that the show was chopped into two pieces... this week, you get a great discussion on the Golden Globes, with winners announced as we record, plus the sad state of the once proud, if not eccentric affair.

Then, reviews on almost 20 movies, with just as many coming next week.

Here's what you can expect this week, including where they are streaming at recording time.

  • Nightmare Alley (in theaters)
  • The Hand of God (Netflix)
  • Ernest Saves Christmas (Disney+)
  • Love Hard (Netflix)
  • Swan Song (AppleTV+)
  • Mother Android (Hulu)
  • Christmas With the Chosen: The Messengers (Peacock)
  • Closed for Storm (Amazon Prime)
  • Juice WRLD: Into the Abyss (HBO Max)
  • The Nowhere Inn (Hulu)
  • West Side Story (in theaters)
  • Belfast (in theaters)
  • The Kings Man (in theaters)
  • The Matrix Resurrections (in theaters / HBO Max)
  • Spiderman: No Way Home (in theaters)
  • To the Wonder (TubiTV)
  • Meet the Ricardos (Amazon Prime)
  • Licorice Pizza (in theaters)
  • Those Who Wish Me Dead (HBO Max)

Next week... we ReFlicked on Street Gang... The French Dispatch... Red Rocket... Pig... The Tender Bar... The 355... and many more!

Episode 377: The Best of the Worst (2010s)

In an episode that can best describe the podcast here, Best of the Worst definitely can include Mikey, Dave and #TwitterlessDrEarl... and what better way to discuss below average and mediocrity that our good friend from way cross Georgia, in a little town called Vinings (or wherever), The Spawn of Ryfun, aka, Garrison gets on the hotline.

New theme song in tow, he's in to youth up the place, in the absence of the forlorn Pinky, still stuck in a Chinese gulag (though it might be Thai, there is no evidence)

After playing a round of the Percentages, including finding out the highest -- and lowest -- Rotten Tomatoes scores from a bevy of actors, including Samuel L Jackson... Bradley Cooper... and even Brie Larson.

Then, its onto the countdown, where the guys rank their favorite low score Rotten Tomatoes films. Dandy movies starring the aforementioned Sam Jackson... and Kevin James... The Rock... BatFleck... and much more!

So sit back and enjoy the show, riffing on how much they love some truly awful films from 2010 until present day!

Episode 348: A Star ReFlicktion Is Born

The fall movie season is upon us, as the Oscar contenders slowly begin to roll out. And of course, the one that everyone has seen a trailer for, oh, about 73,833 times, is "A Star is Born" with Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga.

And who better to discuss such a movie than Mikey, Dave and #TwitterlessDrEarl... or better yet, bringing in Friend of the Show, A24 megastar and independent filmmaker, Jeremy Burgess!

Mikey's new Hitchcock obsession... Dave's Judy Greer disappointment... Earl's one movie...

Then, the movies selected in this year's MikeTober, assigned to Mikey to watch for the Halloween episode (dropping October 24th), featuring submissions by Dave & Earl, Burgess and Friend of the Show No Just Clay...

And finally, Burgess and Dave give their opinions on "dAve Star is Burge", where they recap the 1937, the 1954, the 1976 and 2018 versions of A Star is Born (with #Twitterless Dr Earl tossing in a thought here and there too!)
