Deucecast Classic: 2016's All Time Top Ten

It's a classic ep this week, as we combine TWO episodes -- Ep 214 and Ep 218, both from March 2016 -- with special guests Clay Shaver and Jeremy Burgess

Both episodes run through our (then) all time top 10 movies, as we were finishing up a series giving our top 100...

Here are the original show notes!

Finally... it's here!  Dave, Mikey & Pinky have entered the Top Ten in our year long series of our Top 100 favorite films... and because it's so monumental, the Deucecast Movie Show gang had to bring in two of their favorite dozen or so guests -- Local Birmingham filmmaker Jeremy Burgess and host of the Remodeling Clay podcast Clay Shaver -- to give senseless... er, senseful films.

But first, a rousing game of Chronology, with great categories like "The Mitten"... "Bale-Out"... "Mikey Likey"... and of course, the always loved "Potent Potables".

Starting with a reminder of how each of the participants came up with their own Top Ten.

Jeremy offers up a John Carpenter masterpiece, talks about his favorite horror films and the movie that "is underrated for being overrated" and possible "date rapey".

Pinky falls in love with Anna Kendrick and cancer, talks about a movie fetish and lists the best Rings film...

Clay discusses a Vietnam classic, his best Kevin Smith and a quintessential buddy cop film...

Dave has more Anna Kendrick meets airport stories, celebrates a sinking ship and an Elton John song...

and Mikey feels some heat, feels some Breakfast and has some romance. Some True Romance.

Also, Kate Hudson may or may not come on our show, ever...

Next, how lowly ranked should "Pulp Fiction" actually be?

And... coming soon, a new reality show called... "The Burgeler"?

AND THEN

It's been a year in the making, but here it is... five films from Mikey, from Dave, and from Pinky, along with special guests Remodeling Clay Shaver and local filmmaker Jeremy Burgess, who give their five of all time.

Jumping right in, with Mikey's #5, the discussions flow on where Diehard 2 stands in the original trilogy... two Gregory Peck films... the delight of "In Bruge"... a double dose of Andy Dufresne... Harrison Ford makes a big splash... when "Pulp Fiction" is too low... a film that millennials should discover... Dave's previous favorite film ever until this one... Thoughts on "Blade Runner 2"... Pinky's weird party going habits... the generation gap between Bale's & Keaton's Batman... how to get ripped off after being paid $4 billion... and who does Jeremy think is kidding when they talk about their favorite film?

Plus, tips on creating your own Top 100...

Episode 537: Non Musical Music Movies

It's Week 2 of #FanboySummer, and Dave, Mikey, and #TwitterlessDrEarl seek to improve the show by bringing on people better than all of us... and when its about music, when its about movie music, when its about movies about music but aren't musicals, what better person to bring in than Mississippi's Finest, guitar player and worship leader and podcast host and Discord Datcord fellow Matt Mink, aka, The Mink Panther.

The fellas talk about Matt and where he's from, where he's going, and why he loves music. The discussion leads to some of the group's fave music influences, including some old country like The Statlers, Jamie Johnson, and more Kentucky Headhunters than any podcast has talked about in recent memory. Episode 204: Our Grown-Up Celebrity Christmas List

Merry Christmas!  Kwanzaa!  Hanukkah!  Holidays!  Festivus!  Boxing Day!  And all of that!  It's the last of our month long Christmas episode series, as we bring on not only Dr. Earl, but host of the Remodeling Clay podcast, Clay Shaver!

The episode kicks off with Santa Mikey bestowing gifts upon the group (mostly from his own VHS collection... and by most, we mean "all") and then to a great game of Denzel.

And then, The Deucecast Movie Show opens up the Santa bag and hands out great Christmas gifts to some Hollywood actors & actresses... like Shailene Woodley... and Jake Gyllenhaal... and Terrance Malick... Rick Moranis... Lindsay Lohan and many more, getting the gifts they deserve!

Plus, the "30 Year Reboot Rule" gets introduced for the first time... and...

Mikey extends the olive branch to none other than Anna Kendrick... get your Christmas spirit this week with our Christmas Movie Show!

Episode 176: June ReFlicktions

We welcome you back to the usual ReFlicktions show, where the guys--d$, Mikey and Pinky--discuss all the movies they've seen in the last few weeks... joining them this time are friends of the show Terrence Malick Apologist and Movie Historian The Good Doctor Earl, and the lovely and enchanting Nikki B.

Diving right in, movies that are discussed are:

Ex Machina... Pitch Perfect 2... Wet Hot American Summer... The Big Bounce... Wolf Cop... Enough Said... A Simple Plan... Top Gun (yes, Pinky had never seen it...)...  the remake of Poltergeist... The Woman in Black 2 (or was it Red?  Black?  Who cares, it sucked)... A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night (the world's best Iranian vampire western)... Tracks... And the Oscar Goes To... Galaxy Quest (and how it stacks up against Spaceballs)... Goon... Donnie Brasco... Intersteller (Nikki B simply says, "....um... yeah...")... The Treasure of the Sierra Madre... Tinkerbell & the Neverbeast... Amadeus... Deep Blue Sea... The Punk Singer... Disconnect...

Also, in-depth looks at "Tomorrowland", featuring the new Jennifer Lawrence (according to Mikey), named Britt Something or Other... the amount of Easter Eggs in the film... Pinky's issue with the "preachiness" of the movie... the problems that will come with the low box office totals...

Thoughts on Reese Witherspoon's casting of Tinkerbell in the live action "Tinkerbell"...

Why "San Andreas" is Mikey's new favorite disaster movie and why d$ calls it "a smart stupid movie"...

And the glory and spectacle that is "Mad Max: Fury Road".  Mad Freakin' Max.  Awesome.

Coming up next week on The Deucecast Movie Show Episode 177, comic book character adaptations to the silver screen!
