Episode 466: Scenes from a Mall

If you remember shopping at Waldenbooks and Suncoast Movies, picking up pizza at Sbarro, and maybe checking out a round of a local TV dating show, then this is the episode for you. Mikey and Dave invite in Friend of the Show, Miss Independent Jeremy Burgess, to take a look at malls in movies.

First, Burgess gives a few movies from the indie scene to keep an eye out on, then the latest on the Don't Die campaign for the making of the upcoming film.

Then, the crew gives their Top Five Mall Scenes... memorable moments taking place in the shopping hearts of American -- racing through the malls... staring at 3D pictures... Killbots... fight scenes... growing up... and much more.

Also calling in for Burgentine's Day III, Miss Independent himself Jeremy Burgess, to discuss the movies assigned to him to watch for this week of romance.  Which film will be his #1?  And which show contributor assigned him the worst of the bunch (the answer may shock you!)

Episode 365: Valentine's Opportunities

Another February is here, meaning another day of Valentine's love is in the wings!  And if Mikey, Dave, and #TwitterlessDrEarl aren't enough, Friend of the Show Jennifer "Juniper" Kaufman joins the show to add a softer voice and a girls touch to the topic itself.

First up, Birthday Movies to talk about what was released in February five, ten, fifteen, twenty years ago -- movies like The Lego Movie, Office Space, Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure, and even a fave of Friend of the Show Burgess, The Jonas Brothers 3D Concert Experience!

A quick round of the IMDb game -- can you name the actor and/or actress by the roles and movies?  Great match!

Friend of the Show, Miss Independent himself Burgess calls in from his 24th film festival in 2019 over in Mississippi, to give his results of this year's Burgentine's Day -- he reviews the movies assigned to him by the crew.

The topic in the episode is not just Valentine's movies, but those movies that are bad -- not just guilty pleasures, but Rom Com Chick Flicks that the crew feels like they may be the only ones to actually like. Movies with John Cusack... Brenden Fraser in a bomb shelter... Dave's novelization attempts... Beth Cooper makes an appearance... that Bonnie Raitt song movie... Kaufman's love of Jennifer Anniston.. Dr Earl's love of 90's Jennifer Connelly... Mikey's love of Michael J Fox...  Dave's love of large ensemble flicks... and so much more love in the episode!

Episode 316: ReFlicktions, Nominations & The Burgeler

Mikey and Dave kick off the show by not only introducing Friend of the Show, Wit Stillman Fan, Lover of Brie (Allison, Larsen & the cheese), Terrence Malick Apologist, Film Historian and Nobel Prize of Medicine Nominee of Clinical Skin Abrasion, The Estimable Twitterless Dr. Earl, but also on the Binder & Binder Hotline, the guys welcome in Mr Independent Jeremy Burgess.

Burgess gives us the first real addition of "The Burgeler" (its Burge-Ler, not Burgel-er, by the way), where like the departed "Valentine's Pink" from year's past, Burgess gives his review of four films assigned to him by the guys in The Deucecast Movie Show.  Movies include "Strictly Ballroom" (assigned by Dave)... "Harold & Maude" (assigned by Friend of the Show Remodeling Clay Shaver)... "Broadcast News" (assigned by Dr. Earl)... and "The Fountain" (forced upon Burgess by Mikey).

Then, to the ReFlicktions, where the guys talked about such frivolity as Dr Earl's medical rage... Remodeling Clay's ego for winning all of these things... Sam Rockwell's fine line... Margot Robbie looking too good for her movie... the American Treasure Wes Studi... Dave and Earl discuss racism uncomfortability... the argument for/against the "show movies in theaters for Oscar consideration" rules... and when Mikey doesn't pay attention...

Plus, sprinkled throughout the show are the nominations for the 5th Annual Deucie Awards!

Movies Discussed include:  The Fountain... Strictly Ballroom... Broadcast News... Harold & Maude... Three Billboards Outside of Ebbing, Missouri... The Shape of Water... I Tonya...
