Episode 667: The Oscar Snub Tourney

In a world full of Oscar winners, there is also a large population of worthy performers who never had their own Academy Award moments.  Whether being nominated one time, or seven times, or no times, nary a winning ballot with their name on it.

Mikey, d$, and #XLessDrEarl invite in Miss Independent himself, Jeremy Burgeydoodle, to discuss twenty four dudes and twenty three dames, all with bodies of excellent work. Actors from Ed Harris in "The Right Stuff" to Michael B Jordan's "Fruitvale Station" to d$'s girlfriend Amy Adams in "American Hustle" to Margot Robbie in... well, something good.

Idris! Harrison! ScarJo! Mia! And so many more great thespians, all with one question - "Why don't they have an Oscar yet?", and tonight, we find out who truly defines that question.

Plus, the 8th Annual Burgentine's Day commences, as Jeremy discusses his assigned films - "About Time", "Some Kind of Wonderful", "Notting Hill", "She's the One", and "A Single Man"... who wins and who falls to the bottom this year?

Episode 510: Christmas Movie Families

Feliz Navidad and Happy Holidays to the Deucecast Family!

It's the annual Christmas list episode, and Dave, Mikey, and #TwitterlessDrEarl keep with tradition and bring on one of our favorite past and future guests, Carnegie Hall showstopper, podcaster, mother of an undisclosed amount of offspring, and the voice the d$ has a crush on -- Jennifer Kaufman!

Kaufman checks in with her latest, this time calling from the road, as Dave dives in with birthday movies (La La Land is legit 5 years old... and Jerry Maguire is 25... what...) and then a Hallmark themed round of Faux or Shaux... which movie titles are real, and which are unreal.

Finally, the movie families that each of the crew would want to spend their holidays with... from a super time with the Parrs to the richness of the Faders to having a wonderful life at Christmas to a holiday in the upper West side to Earl's pretentiousness overall to Jennifer with a Colin/Hugh choice to happy Sirius.

It's a fantastic time, a fun hour of laughs and movie memories, and even a little magic tossed in there.

Episode 214: All Time Top Ten Favorite Films Part 1

Note: The audio on this one is flaky with the call-in guest.  Just suffer through it! It's worth it!!

Finally... it's here!  Dave, Mikey & Pinky have entered the Top Ten in our year long series of our Top 100 favorite films... and because it's so monumental, the Deucecast Movie Show gang had to bring in two of their favorite dozen or so guests -- Local Birmingham filmmaker Jeremy Burgess and host of the Remodeling Clay podcast Clay Shaver -- to give senseless... er, senseful films.

But first, a rousing game of Chronology, with great categories like "The Mitten"... "Bale-Out"... "Mikey Likey"... and of course, the always loved "Potent Potables".

Starting with a reminder of how each of the participants came up with their own Top Ten.

Jeremy offers up a John Carpenter masterpiece, talks about his favorite horror films and the movie that "is underrated for being overrated" and possible "date rapey".

Pinky falls in love with Anna Kendrick and cancer, talks about a movie fetish and lists the best Rings film...

Clay discusses a Vietnam classic, his best Kevin Smith and a quintessential buddy cop film...

Dave has more Anna Kendrick meets airport stories, celebrates a sinking ship and an Elton John song...

and Mikey feels some heat, feels some Breakfast and has some romance. Some True Romance.

Also, Kate Hudson may or may not come on our show, ever...

Next, how lowly ranked should "Pulp Fiction" actually be?

And... coming soon, a new reality show called... "The Burgeler"?

Episode 211: Valentine's Pink 2016

Welcome back to The Deucecast Movie Show... It's the season of romance. The season of love. The season of... Valentine's Pink.

Mikey, Pinky & Dave welcome in film historian, Terence Malick apologist and Doctor (of love), Dr Earl to talk about Valentine's movies.  And what would a Valentine's Day be without a female voice?

So the hosts welcome The Delightful Life Podcast host and friend of the show Jennifer Kaufman!

The gang takes on their favorite period piece movies... Defining period pieces all different ways, movies like Sense & Sensibility, Dangerous Liaisons, Remains of the Day and... Django Unchained. What.

And then Valentine's Pink 2016 has Pinky reviewing the movies assigned to him, like Harold & Maude, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, When Harry Met Sally, Angel Heart (!) and the legendary classic... Untamed Heart.

Finally, Pinky also reviews the latest Pretty in Pink, The Last of the Mohicans.
