Episode 627: The ReFlicktions Express (the extended cut)

After weeks of finishing up 2023, complete with last week's The Deucie Awards, it's finally time to bring in the rundown of all the movies seen in recent weeks (and months)... as Timberlake would sing, "IT'S GONNA BE MAY... ReFlicktions"

Episode 619: See This, Not That - the '24 Oscar Edition

It's Oscar season, and we keep discussing the event leading up to Hollywood's big night (admittedly, The Deucies are Hollywood's REAL Big Night, but they haven't figured it out yet.)

And in an Oscar tradition that none of us are sure we've done before, Mikey and d$ invite in Friend of the Show, Lil G, Pride of Marietta Georgia, Radio Banker Apprentice, Garrison Ryfun to discuss the films of the major Oscar nominees, and which of those you should see... and which you should avoid at all costs.

First, though, Madame Web.  All three have seen it. All three have opinions, mostly starting with "Yikes."

Then, the just-announced casting of The MCU version of Fantastic Four -- are Vanessa Kirby, Pedro Pascal, and the other two the right call? Were there better names out there?

Finally... starting at the top with Bradley Cooper, we go through 13 actors and actresses with a larger body of work (as in, no Lily Gladstone!), discussing their films we recommend to watch, and which ones you should probably skip overall, plus a Wild Card choice from each. We talk Greta! Emma! Margot! Ruffalo! Gosling! RDJ! and more.  Plus, Mikey's hatred for "La La Land".

Episode 613: 2023's Surprise & Delights

Each year, there are the movies that perhaps are not on Mikey's, Dave's, or #XLessDrEarl's top fives or top tens, but they are still movies that surprised everyone... and delighted everyone... unexpected pleasant moviegoing experiences if you will.

And we give our top five in this category in our annual Surprise & Delights episode... and like always, Friend of the Show, Miss Independent himself, Jeremy Burgess joins to give his fave underrated and unexpected performances as well.

First up, some chatter about movies that should be nominated for Best Picture, and a look at d$'s Christmas Gift to Burgess, the David Cronenburg film "Videodrome".

Then, the top five Surprise & Delights of the year, including Sydney Sweeney facing Reality... much love for a Sophia Coppola joint... several name drops for Jerry Butler... the differences in the movie and the 3 part series "Blackberry" on AppleTV... the year in horror... and much more.

Finally, the 2024 Burgentine's Day commences, as assignments are given from the likes of Aussie Nate... Melissa R... and the trio on the Deucecast.

Ep 612: Who Won 2023?

The new year has begun, winter is crashing around us, and it's time to reflect on what made our moviedom in the last year... and for the second time, we ask, Who Won the Year?

While #XLessDrEarl is unavailable, yachting off the coast of Madagascar, filling in is the Pride of Stone Mountain Georgia, Young G Ryfun... after a little catch-up, including whether Garrison is getting too old to stay up for New Year's at midnight, they dive into for a few losers first.

Before the winners, who actually lost?  DCU? MCU? Disney animation? Pixar? Indiana Jones?

Then, the winners of 2023... Barbenheimer... former wrestlers... Emma Stone... FAST Films... Japanese Kaiju... and one goddess who shows up again.

Episode 572: The Oscar Winners Tourney

In the midst of the Oscar season, the SAG Awards, the PGA Awards, the BAFTAs, the Blockbuster Entertainment Awards, and of course, The Deucies, we mustn't lose sight of the fact that we are still filling the Big Bracket with names and memorable, ICONIC, movie roles -- so what better way to merge  the award season into the Big Bracket with an Oscar Winner Tourney.

And to help decide this all important winner -- Lil G, the Spawn of Scotty Ryfun, joins Mike and d$ while #TwitterlessDrEarl is on assignment in Nova Scotia.

Sixteen Oscar winning actresses -- only roles that won the golden statue, not just nominated, because if you're not first, you're last -- on one side, and 16 Oscar winning actors on the other.

Tonight's ep involves some incredible actresses -- Emma Stone and Jessica Chastain hope that being recent winners will cement their own legacy in the voters eyes, while Hollywood royalty like Vivian Leigh and Audrey Hepburn hope that multiple generations of stardom will put them through.  Gregory Peck's Atticus Finch strides through the courtroom of Bracket Opinion, while Daniel Plainview drinks your Big Bracket Milkshake.

Some actresses appear twice, some movies get multiple shots at glory, and for some roles, this might be their only chance to move forward.

And who knew that Mikey hated Gladiator so doggone much?

Which is why The Deucecast Movie Show guys -- Mikey, Dave, and #TwitterlessDrEarl -- are bringing the world a list of "Comfort Movies"... movies that just make you feel good, or that you've seen so many times, it's a total escape to watch.

But to truly provide the comfort you may need, the DCMS brings on the dulcet tones of Friend of the Show Clay Shaver!  Back again to show up the crew with his awesome style, the show catches up with the old friend, bragging a little on the Spawn of Clay and her record making track style, as well as getting the latest COVID news from up north.

Then, in a game played for the first time since Episode 350 (Oct 2018), a rousing round of Reel or Unreel, as Dave calls out the movie description and Mikey, Clay, & #TwitterlessDrEarl have to decipher what is... well, real... or unreal...

And finally, the topic at hand, Comforting Films. Those movies that just make you feel good, that you can enjoy at any point in these troubled times. From a Jesus musical to a Nic Cage drama to retrieving a baseball to the movie that stole the Oscar from "Enchanted".

Episode 205: The 2015 Lumps of Coal

It's a short show this week, so we hope you had a Merry Christmas and hope you do have a Happy, Happy New Year!  First, we say goodbye to Shotglass Digital Network... thanks Jimmy & the Shotglass family.  You guys have been amazing to our show and we cannot show enough appreciation for that!

This week, we go over the absolute dreck from the last year, discussing the five worst films we've seen in 2015.  Not all of them are from the last 12 months, but these are the worst films we've seen in those 12 months.

And we are talking baaaaaad films.  Not craptastic films.  Not films that are so bad they are good.  No.  Bad movies.  Horrible movies.  Movies that feature Jordana Brewster at the top.  Movies that say "Starring Kate Heigl".  Movies that feature the words "Cat" and "Woman" together.

Hear about what might be the biggest waste of a good cast to make a bad movie... hear Pinky get angry about a movie... hear d$ rail against The Fantastic Four (again)... hear Mikey talk about the movie that might be one of the worst films he's ever seen, this year or not.

That's all on the 2015 Lumps of Coal Episode!!

The episode kicks off with Santa Mikey bestowing gifts upon the group (mostly from his own VHS collection... and by most, we mean "all") and then to a great game of Denzel.

And then, The Deucecast Movie Show opens up the Santa bag and hands out great Christmas gifts to some Hollywood actors & actresses... like Shailene Woodley... and Jake Gyllenhaal... and Terrance Malick... Rick Moranis... Lindsay Lohan and many more, getting the gifts they deserve!

Plus, the "30 Year Reboot Rule" gets introduced for the first time... and...

Mikey extends the olive branch to none other than Anna Kendrick... get your Christmas spirit this week with our Christmas Movie Show!

Episode 190: Tough Chicks & Teresa

Back in the studio for your weekly edition with the best in movies and more, and this time d$, Mikey & Pinky are joined by fan girl extraordinaire, co-host of Fangirls Going Rogue and of Disney Vault Talk and of a 1000 other things, Teresa Delgado!

Jumping right in, the topic is "Bad A** Movie Chicks", or to keep it from getting an explicit tag, "Tough Chicks in Movies"... the Bride.. Ripley... Sarah Connor... and of course... Olive Pendergast.  Wait... what?

Even a few controversial choices are tossed in... like... Rose from "Titanic".  Argue away.

Later, the episode finds it's way into Harry Potter lore, where the gang discusses their first venture into Potterworld, some of the differences in the movies and books, characters that were cast correctly--and miscast--and yes, d$ makes a case for Alan Rickman being wrongly cast...

All of this and more in this week's The Deucecast Movie Show

Episode 185: Top 100... 80 thru 71

Back when Lindsay Lohan was awesome, beautiful,
wonderful and normal.  And check out those hotties
in the back.
The numbers get smaller, and the hits just keep getting bigger (RIP, Casey Kasem)... it's another Top 100 Favorite Films episode, as Mikey, Pinky & d$ give you their 80th favorite films.  Then their 79th... followed by their 78th... and even though mathing is hard, you'll see where this ends up, all the way down to 71...

After a quick trip into the films of Rob Schneider in a "See This Not That" segment, the fave films start coming... who is the pansy who loves The Blind Side?   Who is the weirdo who loves Little Miss Sunshine so much?  And who truly is "MagnoliaFan69"?  Abigail Breslin makes two appearances this time around, as does Sandra Bullock, while music from The George Baker Selection, Janet Jackson, Luther Vandross and even Ray Stevens is heard, another film is crossed over on two lists and listen to Mikey's list carefully... something just doesn't line up (but it will make sense in a (back to the) future episode, we promise!

Oh, and Mikey says "Woody Harrelanaissance".  Don't ask why.  Or how.

Episode 166: The 2015 Deucie Awards (with Reflcktions)

It's that time of year when we, at The Deucecast Movie Show, take the Academy Awards to task, and give out our own awards for the best in film of 2014... Plus, we have a great discussion about the roles Jennifer Aniston has taken... is there such a thing as a Cageissance, and should there be?... what movie is so bad that Paris Hilton is the best thing in it?... and who brings up McCabe & Mrs Miller?

Movie historian and Terance Malickian Dr Earl joins us for this episode, as we give out awards, talk movies and give our reviews on:
