Episode 316: ReFlicktions, Nominations & The Burgeler

Mikey and Dave kick off the show by not only introducing Friend of the Show, Wit Stillman Fan, Lover of Brie (Allison, Larsen & the cheese), Terrence Malick Apologist, Film Historian and Nobel Prize of Medicine Nominee of Clinical Skin Abrasion, The Estimable Twitterless Dr. Earl, but also on the Binder & Binder Hotline, the guys welcome in Mr Independent Jeremy Burgess.

Burgess gives us the first real addition of "The Burgeler" (its Burge-Ler, not Burgel-er, by the way), where like the departed "Valentine's Pink" from year's past, Burgess gives his review of four films assigned to him by the guys in The Deucecast Movie Show.  Movies include "Strictly Ballroom" (assigned by Dave)... "Harold & Maude" (assigned by Friend of the Show Remodeling Clay Shaver)... "Broadcast News" (assigned by Dr. Earl)... and "The Fountain" (forced upon Burgess by Mikey).

Then, to the ReFlicktions, where the guys talked about such frivolity as Dr Earl's medical rage... Remodeling Clay's ego for winning all of these things... Sam Rockwell's fine line... Margot Robbie looking too good for her movie... the American Treasure Wes Studi... Dave and Earl discuss racism uncomfortability... the argument for/against the "show movies in theaters for Oscar consideration" rules... and when Mikey doesn't pay attention...

Plus, sprinkled throughout the show are the nominations for the 5th Annual Deucie Awards!

Movies Discussed include:  The Fountain... Strictly Ballroom... Broadcast News... Harold & Maude... Three Billboards Outside of Ebbing, Missouri... The Shape of Water... I Tonya... The Disaster Artist... The Phantom Thread... Hostiles.... Mr. Roosevelt... Columbus... Get Out... Happy Death Day... Mudbound... Icarus... A Futile & Stupid Gesture... Brawl in Cell Block 99... Paddington 2... Ingrid Goes West... One of Us... Miss Sloane... Molly's Game... Pilgrimage... The Lost City of Z... Rough Night... Barista... The Post... The Darkest Hour... The Cloverfield Paradox...

Episode 164: (not) Live from New York, It's (not) Saturday Night!

Okay, not really live from New York, though it was recorded live from our studio in Birmingham... either way, it's another fun filled episode of The Deucecast Movie Show, where this week, we celebrate the end of the 40th season of Saturday Night Live by highlighting our favorite cast members and their movie careers.

But first, Mikey & d$ are in studio (Pinky joined later) with the foreign film lover and Terrance Malick Apologist Dr Earl, and for the first time, we welcome on the horn our friend and fellow podcaster Clay Shaver, host of the popular Remodeling Clay podcast.

Many topics discussed tonight, including how Baby: Secret of a Lost Legend turned 30 this month... exactly how much is riding on The Avengers: Age of Ultron for Marvel... will DC movies fall apart if Superman v Batman fails... and a deep discussion on why Bradley Cooper and Chris Pratt might be the biggest movie stars out there, and why Tom Cruise's movie stardom time has passed...

A rousing game of the newly named "Denzel Game" ensues, where we discuss much about that movie with Cameron Diaz and the sick little girl...

And finally, the topic at hand, with legends like Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Eddie Murphy are discussed, along with their career highs and lows, plus the likes of Ben Stiller, Tina Fey, Bill Heder and more... all in our "Favorite SNL Alumni" discussion.  Who has potential to be big from here on out, and how far has the star fallen for Mike Myers?  Find out in this show.

And next week, join us when we welcome in Shazbazzar to preview April and May's coming movies, with a rousing Furious 7 chat!!

Happy New Year! We're ringing/phoning it in with That Star Wars Episode!

Happy New Year from The Deucecast! Despite the best efforts of management, unionized workers won their lawsuit and had the week off! We hope you're enjoying some time off as well, and in the meantime, here's a fan-favorite episode until we're back in the studio Wednesday night. Join us Jan 4, 2012 at 8:30PM CST on Ustream.

STAR WARS STAR WARS STAR WARS STAR WARS STAR WARS STAR WARS

Its all Star Wars this time around, as on The Deucecast Episode XXV becomes a Star Wars Centric show! We talk about what we loved, what we liked, what we hold dear and what... well, what we didn't like. The Blu-Rays were released this past weekend, so we go indepth in Star Wars lore, what George did right, what he did wrong, and what he did that, frankly, we didn't even know he had done.

What are your favorite scenes from the movies? Is it Qui Gonn vs. Darth Maul, which is one of Matt's? Or the opening battle sequence in Revenge of the Sith, like Mikey? Or maybe the Yoda vs. Dooku fight in Attack of the Clones? And what does Rhett think of Yoda and Dooku? Not much, apparently. Find out why...

We dive into a little Weird Al, some Star Wars gangsta wrap, and even some old Saturday Night Live material with Nick Lava and his Star Wars lounge act. What are some of your favorite Star Wars experiences? Watching the movies with your kids? Standing in line for hours for tickets? A Star Wars Convention? Or the Christmas of 1983? And somehow, Dave Coulier makes it onto the podcast... we're not sure what happened there, to be honest.

And we dive into a little Star Wars Trivia, with some of the easiest questions you can possibly imagine... and somehow Mikey still stumbles.

That's all on The Deucecast Episode XXV: That Star Wars Episode...
