Episode 603: All Hail the Burgessing

It's an annual tradition around this time, not only to celebrate Halloween with a little spooky movie talk, but also to give the fans what they want - the results of the 9th annual MikeTober Event.  It's not as big as the Lilith Fair, but bigger than Toyotathon ever hoped to be -- its Mikey watching five scary movies and ranking them from least to best.

But first, Mikey, d$, and #XlessDrEarl welcome in Friend of the Show, Miss Independent himself, Jeremy Burgess, as Burgess catches everyone up on the latest with his film "Don't Die" as well as giving a few film recommendations that you may have not heard of.

A little entertainment tonight, October B'day movies rolls in, including "Venom", "Never Say Never Again", "Kill Bill Vol 1" and even "Lassie Come Home", all celebrating birthdays in October.

Finally, the Stephen King Countdown. All the guys give their top five fave King adaptations, some horror, some sci-fi, some just great films... and some not so great.  We hope you get your own list of films to see!

And then MikeTober pays off, as he gives his take on "The Descent" (d$'s pick)... "The Wailing" (Garrison)... "Cat People" (Burgess)... "The Wicker Man" (Dr. Earl)... "His House" (Roth from Wyoming)... and of course, Aussie Nate's huge addition, "Little Monsters".

Episode 602: DeuceFellas - The Scorsese Top 5

"You downloading me? You listenin' to me?!" That's right, it might sound like a DeNiro themed episode, but we actually turn our attention the legend behind the camera, one Martin Scorsese, as Dave, Mikey, and #XLessDrEarl discuss and rank some of their fave Marty films.

First, a quick catch up, then a spoiler free review of the latest, "Killers of the Flower Moon", then the return of the Rotten Tomatoes game, this time with a little Scorsese Potpourri.

Then, the guys rank and discuss each of their fave Top 5 Scorsese directed films, with the full knowledge there a ton of them they haven't seen. Nonetheless, it still makes for a great conversation, as they discuss thoughts on "Goodfellas", on "Color of Money" (and Mary Elisabeth Mastrantonio, of course), on "Taxi Driver" and a ton more.

Then, once the credits role, Steve signs off, and Casey counts 'em down, a special aftershow, spoiler filled review of "Killers of the Flower Moon"... chatting about the cast, the cinematography, the music, some Easter Eggs, how Lily Gladstone matched up with DeNiro and Leo, and the film's Oscar -- and Deucie -- chances.

DCMS Episode 600: The Big Bracket

Finally, after all the hubbub and chatter and stops and starts, Mikey, d$ and #XLessDr Earl have made it to the culmination of topics of 28 previous episodes... The Big Bracket.

From Episode 291 to Episode 599, 36 movie roles were chosen and now will face off one on one... a majority vote rules, as the crew goes through the match ups one at at time.

But what fun is a Movie Role Bracket if there aren't more Friends of the Show joining up?  And Friends of the Show join up... producing the show is Roth from Wyoming and stepping in is Lil G "Pride of Albany" Ryfun... then along the way comes (in order of appearance...) Lil Andy... Aussie Nate... Hurricane Rhett... "Amish" Jenn Novotny... Jenny Kaufman... Matty Mink... Uncle Brian... Coach DiBello... and of course, The Icon, Scotty "Ryfulicious" Ryfun...

It's absolutely the longest episode we've ever done, as we agreed early on there would be no Big Bracket in 601 -- the group powers through the entire show. New theme songs, familiar favorites, jokes fly, Garrison drives, Mikey has a delay, Earl changes his mind, d$ keeps it all moving.

Enjoy the show.
