Episode 529: The 2022 Deucies and Top 10 of 2021

It's a tradition unlike any other... no, not the Masters, nor the Kentucky Derby, nor the BAFTAs... nope, it's the Deucie Awards!

For the 9th consecutive year, including 8 years in a row and this one, the Deucecast Movie Show hosts compile a list of nominees to watch, consider, vote on, and finally award the proverbial Golden Deuce Academy Globe VIBE statue to any one - or many - of over 40 films nominated for 16 awards...

Will Jess Chastain take home the Deucie to match her Oscar?  Will Jason Isaacs get finally get some love after his tour de force on MASS?  Can Hans Zimmer take another step closer to a DEGOT? And will international films find themselves in the spotlight this year.

Along the way, Dave, Mikey, and #Twitterless Dr Earl count down their own individual lists of their favorite 10 from the previous year gone by... including films that only get on one list, like that Jesus music doc Dave loves... and movies that are on 67% of the lists, like Wes Anderson's latest quirkity cinema... or movies that are on various spots of all three lists, like PTA's newest masterpiece or maybe a web slingin' modern classic...

And shockingly, this ep comes in well under 2 hours.

Enjoy the show as we put a button on 2021!

Episode 516: The January ReFlicktions Part Two

The episode from last week was just so long, the only answer was to turn it into two shows over two weeks. This is not an achievement, this is more indicative of at least two of the three hosts of the show really needing to get out and experience life, instead of just watching every movie in existence.

As it stands, this episode picks up right back where last week left off...

Episode 515: The January ReFlicktions Part One

If you thought the beginning of the year meant a slow down in movies seen by The Deucecast Movie Show crew -- Mikey, d$, and Dr. Earl -- then you obviously don't know these guys very well.

The year starts with a bang with a heaping helping of film reviews, both new -- Spidey, West Side Story, Swan Song -- and old -- To the Wonder, Ernest -- and many, many more...

So many, in fact, that the show was chopped into two pieces... this week, you get a great discussion on the Golden Globes, with winners announced as we record, plus the sad state of the once proud, if not eccentric affair.

Then, reviews on almost 20 movies, with just as many coming next week.

Here's what you can expect this week, including where they are streaming at recording time.

  • Nightmare Alley (in theaters)
  • The Hand of God (Netflix)
  • Ernest Saves Christmas (Disney+)
  • Love Hard (Netflix)
  • Swan Song (AppleTV+)
  • Mother Android (Hulu)
  • Christmas With the Chosen: The Messengers (Peacock)
  • Closed for Storm (Amazon Prime)
  • Juice WRLD: Into the Abyss (HBO Max)
  • The Nowhere Inn (Hulu)
  • West Side Story (in theaters)
  • Belfast (in theaters)
  • The Kings Man (in theaters)
  • The Matrix Resurrections (in theaters / HBO Max)
  • Spiderman: No Way Home (in theaters)
  • To the Wonder (TubiTV)
  • Meet the Ricardos (Amazon Prime)
  • Licorice Pizza (in theaters)
  • Those Who Wish Me Dead (HBO Max)

Next week... we ReFlicked on Street Gang... The French Dispatch... Red Rocket... Pig... The Tender Bar... The 355... and many more!

Episode 388: Hot Summer Flicks

The Earth is scorching, the sun that tried to kill Mario in the game is trying to kill us too, and the floor is lava everywhere. The only place hotter than summer right now is the super hot dudes in The Deucecast Movie Show studios!

After the rundown of birthday movies -- can you believe American Pie, Blair Witch and Eyes Wide Shut are TWENTY years old??  Plus, True Lies at 25... Bernie died 30 years ago... The Muppets took Manhattan 35 years ago... that creepy house told us to get out 40 years ago... and we had a Death Wish 45 years ago this month!

Then, Mikey, Dave, and #TwitterlessDrEarl tackle a sizzling topic... best Summer Films! Movies set in and around the summertime months, including Beach Flicks (One Crazy Summer!) and Mountain Flicks (White Water Summer!) and political Flicks (Do the Right Thing!) and much, much more.
