Episode 653: The Horror Movie Draft

 With a little nod to All Hallow's Eve, the guys at the Deucecast are here to celebrate some of the best in suspense and horror and creepy movies, with the first ever Horror Movie Draft.

#XLessDrEarl was called away to a patient found in a bathtub of ice with no kidneys and is doing the proper surgery now -- but stepping into the pretentious spot, Miss Independent himself, the Burgerler, Jeremy Burgess.

The rules are simple... after playing a quick Box Office Mojo game, in a snake style draft, the guys select horror and scary movies from across Hollywood's years, filling out a list that will ultimately get a movie from the 1960s or previous... the 70s... the 80s... the 90s... the 2000s... the 2010s... and 2020 until current date.  Some are pretty easy to pick, others take some strategy, but overall, Mikey, d$, and Burgess are all asking you to vote THEIR Lineup the best of all -- so make sure you cast your vote either in the Discord or on @TheDeucecast on X.com! 

And at the end of the show, Mikey pays off his annual venture into scary movies, MikeTober, plus a rundown on the streaming status of "Don't Die" 

Episode 652: Haunted Houses

It's the Spooky Season as Mikey, d$, and #XLessDrEarl continue their Halloween themed episodes for the month of October!  Make sure you check out our fave witchy movies from a few weeks ago, and next week, our very first Horror Movie Draft... but tonight?  Haunted Houses.

DCMS Ep 650: Ooh Ooh Witchy Deucecast

 In the small but still somewhat cool milestone of our 650th episode, Mikey, d$, and #XLessDrEarl kick off the month of October with the first of three horror themed episodes -- which one, you ask?  Its the Witch One, as a matter of fact.  See what we did there?

Episode 603: All Hail the Burgessing

It's an annual tradition around this time, not only to celebrate Halloween with a little spooky movie talk, but also to give the fans what they want - the results of the 9th annual MikeTober Event.  It's not as big as the Lilith Fair, but bigger than Toyotathon ever hoped to be -- its Mikey watching five scary movies and ranking them from least to best. 

But first, Mikey, d$, and #XlessDrEarl welcome in Friend of the Show, Miss Independent himself, Jeremy Burgess, as Burgess catches everyone up on the latest with his film "Don't Die" as well as giving a few film recommendations that you may have not heard of.

A little entertainment tonight, October B'day movies rolls in, including "Venom", "Never Say Never Again", "Kill Bill Vol 1" and even "Lassie Come Home", all celebrating birthdays in October. 

Finally, the Stephen King Countdown. All the guys give their top five fave King adaptations, some horror, some sci-fi, some just great films... and some not so great.  We hope you get your own list of films to see!

Episode 214: All Time Top Ten Favorite Films Part 1

Finally... it's here!  Dave, Mikey & Pinky have entered the Top Ten in our year long series of our Top 100 favorite films... and because it's so monumental, the Deucecast Movie Show gang had to bring in two of their favorite dozen or so guests -- Local Birmingham filmmaker Jeremy Burgess and host of the Remodeling Clay podcast Clay Shaver -- to give senseless... er, senseful films.

But first, a rousing game of Chronology, with great categories like "The Mitten"... "Bale-Out"... "Mikey Likey"... and of course, the always loved "Potent Potables".

Starting with a reminder of how each of the participants came up with their own Top Ten.

Jeremy offers up a John Carpenter masterpiece, talks about his favorite horror films and the movie that "is underrated for being overrated" and possible "date rapey".

Episode 196: Deuceoween MikeTober 2015

It's the witching hour, it's the haunted time of the year, its the scariest part of the year... its Deuceoween, featuring the return of MikeTober!

First, d$, Mikey, Pinky, & Friend of the Show Jeremy Burgess, coming live from the Orlando Film Festival where he is promoting his Indie Short Film "Dead Saturday",dust off an old favorite called Reel or Unreel, guessing what movie is a real reel out of a group of unreal reels based on the terrible descriptions of the movies themselves... "Children of the Forlorn"?  "Hell Night"?  Or even "Measuring Tape, Measuring Death"?

Then Jeremy and Pinky discuss some of their favorite horror films seen this month--"Hausu" and "Cannibal Holocaust" and "The Vanishing" (both original and remake) and more.

We give a Wes Craven tribute, discussing a few of his classics like "The Hills Have Eyes", the Scream Series and the three Nightmare on Elm Street films he worked on, plus a few clunkers too ("The People Under the Stairs", anyone?), and the impact on the horror genre he had... plus, how great was it to be in a film called "Tales from the Crapper"?  That's not a fake title, by the way.

Then, MikeTober 2015 comes full circle, as Mikey discusses the five films assigned to him by the show and it's friends.  Mikey hates horror movies, so this was a chore for him... what does he think about "Hellraiser" or "Creepshow" or "The Omen" or "Nightmare on Elm Street"?   Plus more discussion on the real director of "Poltergeist".

And to discuss "Sleepaway Camp", we make an unplanned call to Remodeling Clay Shaver to discuss the film--and most notably, the ending of it all.

Now that it's 2015, we have to look back over the last year and decide what the best films of the year are.. but since we are still seeing movies released in 2014, we can't give you a full list of the best movies of the year gone by.

However... we CAN talk about the movies we saw in 2014 from years previous.  Classics like "The Godfather"... "Halloween"... and "The Last Picture Show"...

80s and 90s flicks like "Adventures in Babysitting"... "Beauty & the Beast" and "Fright Night"...  And recent movies like "American Hustle"... "Crazy Stupid Love"... "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" and even a little Sarah Polley sighting in "Go".

That's right, this time the guys in The Deucecast Movie Show take on Halloween... no, not the holiday... but the 1978 classic film, Halloween.  Starting from the bone-chilling score that is comprised of just a few notes (and a million nightmares), d$, Mikey & P!nky break down the classic from John Carpenter.

Discussions include the plot itself, the infamous mask and it's origins, Jamie Lee Curtis, the music, the extended scenes and more.

This begins our three-part Halloween (the holiday, not the movie) series of shows... first, this Intermission... then, our Main Show next Monday with a Halloween-movie version of "Reel or Unreel," along with our favorite Horror Films of All Time, and the results of Miketober--Mikey watching classic scary movies, which he hates.
