Episode 604: The November 80s

The holiday season is here, and we are one week out from our annual DeuceGiving episode, which kicks off two months of annual eps - from Christmas gifts to Kaufman's yearly seasonal offerings to Top Tens of Not the Year to Lumps of Coal and much more.

But that's later.

Two years ago, we talked best November movies of the 2000s (episode 505). Last year, we took it back a decade and did the best of the 90s (episode 558), and this time around, the 1980s take center stage, as Mikey, d$, and special guest, "The Rocket Man" Uncle Brian, gives their fave films released in any year of the 80s, but only within the month of November.

First up, Uncle Brian reveals one of his hobbies -- the first time in 604 eps that Blinko has ever been discussed. Then, a miserable, total failure round of Box Office Mojo -- no seriously, the performance is awful and must be acknowledged as such.

Then, the Top Five 80s November films -- a little Trek... some Bugs... Charlie Sheen and a weird car... Chuck Norris rescues POWs... M'Lynn is wearing a brown football helmet... ending the Cold War... and a somewhat real discussion on the career and films of one Deucecast legend, Jim Varney, aka, "Ernest".

Films discussed, and where to find them streaming:

  • Back to the Future Part II (Peacock Premium)
  • The B.R.A.T. Patrol (unavailable)
  • Ernest Saves Christmas (Disney+)
  • Flash Gordon (for rental)

Episode 532: The Baseball Movie Role Tourney

BATTER UP!  Baseball has begun, 30 games into the season, Dave's team, Baltimore, is already out of it, Mikey doesn't care because Dallas Cowboys play the foosball and not the baseball, and #TwitterlessDrEarl is out and about, saving lives, delivering babies and politicking.

So, we bring in Roth from Wyoming, co-host of Good Day for a Movie Podcast, and Deucecast Discorder Extraordinaire, to help figure out which one of these 32 incredible baseball roles head to the Big Bracket of Ep 600!

First up, the return of WORD UP! to the show -- discussions on Doctor Strange, on Netflix failings, and Top Gun Maverick prospects. Plus, some other random chitter chatter before the  tourney takes over.

Roth, Mikey, and d$ set out to determine the best modern day baseball role in movie history, with everything from Wild Thing to a double dose of Costner to Tony Danza and Tom Selleck and Bernie Mac and a few chicks even make the final line up. Great discussion, great film memories.

  • The Babe
  • Bad News Bears
  • Brewster's Millions
  • Bull Durham

Episode 395: It's all Relative

Sometimes you just need family, and when its the family in the movies, its even better.  Mikey, Dave and #TwitterlessDrEarl tackle the topic of relatives in movies... but to get an expert word on it, two people who excel at being father and son -- Scotty Ryfun and Garrison, the Spawn of Ryfun, also known as the Pride of Tifton Georgia!

But first, birthday movies!  Checking out the movies that released in August in 2014 (Birdman!), 2009, 2004 and on and on back, all the way until 55 years ago, when Mary Poppins came out.

A rousing game of Denzel with all the guys, and then a great top five list filled with movies that feature actors and actresses that are blood relative... Sheens!  Cusacks!  Bridges!  Wilsons!  Branaugh and Thompsons... wait, what?

Ryfun puts his own spin on the list itself, as #TwitterlessDrEarl cannibalizes Dave's list, and Mikey desperately searches for any relative of Kevin Costner who was in the same movie so Mikey can make that one movie his entire list.

Fun. Frivolity. Ryfuns.  Good times. Great oldies.

Episode 389: The Best of the Worst (1990s)

In the second part of the new Best of the Worst series, Mikey, Dave and #TwitterlessDrEarl look way back to five years ago... or 25, as it were... to find the dreck of the years 1990 to 1999.

And of course, it's the dreck that the guys absolutely love.

First up, the IMDb game, guessing the movies based on the IMDb acting roster, naming the actors one by one until someone shouts the answer.

Then, the favorite of the awful, the beloved of the beguiled, the truly best of the worst... Nic Cage mediocrity... Tom Hanks trash... Costner crap... Swayze swine... Keanu hullabaloo... and Heather Locklear.

Enjoy this walk down Meh Movie Lane, and let the guys know your favorites!

Brothers in Movies

"Hey Brother.." That's right we at The Deucecast Movie Picture Show love Hollywood Movie Families. The brotherly love of Charlie Sheen and Emilio Estevez, Beau and Jeff Bridges, and of course Alec, Stephen, William, and Daniel Baldwin. Mike, Pinky, and Dr. Earl take the reigns this week as Dave is visiting that Mouse in Florida. We pick our favorite brothers in movies together in such movies as The Fabulous Baker Boys , Young Guns, and of course I'm Gonna Git You Sucka.

We ReFlick movies such as Blue Jasmine, The Family, and Prisoners. Including a very special "Moment With Malick" brought to you by Dr. Earl.

Discuss our Top 5 of the year. There are some major changes thanks to the majesty of Prisoners.

And there is a rousing new game created by Mike that Dr. Earl is really good at... he may or may not win with spouting out the answer Grand Prix.

Be sure to download this week's episode on iTunes and rate and review us as you see fit. You can always stream the episode on your Android or Blackberry device via Stitcher and stream the episode right here on this magnificent website.

Be sure to look for us next week as we drop our next Intermission episode. This time on the DeNiro Classic Taxi Driver.

Ep LXVIII: The Deucecast Saga, Podcast Moon

Here comes The Deucecast... the podcast sensation that's sweeping the nation... or at least, Inverness.  It's the 68th chapter of The Deucecast Saga, one we call "Podcast Moon", and this week, the guys invite in special guest Drew, but also the Boo of Drew, or maybe The Drew Boo... maybe Drew 2?  Kelsey Lately also visits the cast to bring her own chick perspective...

...on what, you might ask?  Oh, all the usual... like Mikey's whirlwind trip to Orlando and to Star Wars Celebration VI... his and his kid's visit to the zoo... and to Madagascar 3... Charlie Sheen's extended contract... Seth Green's new show... Michael Keaton as a villian... drinking Yum-E Tummies... Joss Whedon's pilot... the Demi Lovato's Tweet of the Week... Tone Loc's latest babymamadrama... and somehow, we spend ten minutes on the career of Kate Hudson.  Don't ask why, just go with it.

Mikey brings back a repeat offender to his Music Minute... we give you Minus the Bear.  Unfortunately, we can't be Minus the Segment, but hey, its all fun, right?  The guys team up to take on Kelsey Lately for a rousing game of "Battle of the Sexes", taking topics like Lancome's mascara brushes and HBK's nicknames.

Our Big Three discusses favorite on-screen couples, with movies like "Star Wars"... "William Shakespeare's Romeo + Juliet"... "Roman Holiday"... "Mr & Mrs Smith"... and even more.

More movies discussed include "Field of Dreams"... "Jack and Jill"... "Trespass"... and "Rio".

Next week, join the show when we take on The Big Three 4th Movies in a series... Mikey has more crap... a new Buried Treasure pops up... and more fun and frivolity... thats on The Deucecast Episode LXIX: The Deucecast Saga: Podcast Eclipse
