Episode XXXIX: Pod Free Or Cast Hard

As we approach 40... that's shows, not ages, we celebrate our successes and thank you, the listener(s) for your loyalty.  But, before we get to show 40... we have to do show 39... that's Episode XXIX:  Pod Free or Cast Hard!

We welcome in Drew, our former SuperFan and now one of our rotating co-hosts, as he brings in his love of Guns N'Roses and... well, his love of Guns N'Roses.

The week discussed includes Mikey's Coke habit... d$ helping with tornado relief... Drew's love of Team Trivia at local hangouts... thoughts on "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy"... thoughts on "Chinese Democracy"... Liam Neeson and "The Grey"... thoughts on "Red Tails" fails... a great Demi Lovato watch... and a bonus watch, as we keep up with Seal!  Of course, so much more.

Kind of like a show prep bible.  Not THE
Bible, mind you, but it is a good resource.
Mikey pulls out a new Music Minute with some band that sounds like Shake Weight or something, while d$'s Saddest Songs Ever countdown continues with Celine!  Expose's last nit!  With The Miami Sound Machine!  with Mariah, when she was so great!  And some info on a legendary Phil Collins tune--plus, our first Mikhail Baryshnikov's mention on The Deucecast.

New game!  We play the first ever "Reel or Unreel" using Leonard Maltin's Movie Guide! And our Big Three takes on movies that we have never seen, but probably should have seen by now, including some classic flicks, some newer ones (Vegas, baby!) and Drew's stunning revelation that he has never seen... well, you just have to hear it.  Its something that left Mikey and d$ speechless for at least three seconds each.

The Roundtable gives up a spirited discussion on Oscar Nominations... the worthiness of "Bridesmaids" and more specificallly, Melissa McCarthy... George Lucas on Oprah... fans of Sho-biz Pizza... "Troll 2" and its followings... and more docs watched.

Next week!  More Mike's Music Crap... the Buried Treasure returns.. the Saddest Songs Ever continues, getting closer to the Top Ten with Whitney!  Classic Bill Withers!  Even some Blessid Union of Souls!  And on our Big Three, we discuss sequels... more importantly, "The Biggest Drop Offs from One Sequel to the Next"  That's all on The Deucecast Episode XL:  The Podshank Redemption...

Episode XXXVIII: Podcast With A Vengence

Ladies and Gentlemen,

As you know, we have something special down here at The Deucecast Studios this evening.  A recording from The Deucecast Podcast.

Yeah!  Its the Deucecast Episode XXXVIII:  Podcast with a Vengeance!   We welcome Dr. Feelgood, aka, Dr. Earl into the studios as the guys kick things off with everything from bad sandwich artistry at Subway to the goodness of Jimmy Johns... from our technology addictions to Dr. Earls foray into the Apple World.

Mikey brings us a new band called My Pet Dragon, which he loves.  At least he does.  Then, we kick off our five part series on The Saddest Songs Ever Written, with songs #25 to #21...

The Big Three salutes one of our favorites, that being Morgan Freeman, as we discuss our favorite roles by this Hollywood icon... we hit the big ones like "Se7en" and "The Shawshank Redemption", but also some smaller movies like "Hard Rain", "Red" and even "High Crimes" with Ashley Judd.

One of our favorite scenes ever, from "Glory" (d$'s 44th favorite film of all time)... Morgan Freeman's "soul clap" is fantastic.  I also feel like the term "our great gettin' up morning" should be used more often.

More Star Wars news... Betty White's birthday bash... and a walk on the Bark Side.  We also lead to a documentary discussion, with films such as "Paradise Lost 3: Purgatory"... "The Cave of Forgotten Dreams"... "Jacka$$ 3"... and a huge discussion on the state of America's education system.  No, I'm being serious.  It was an actual debate based on views of the movie "Waiting for Superman".

And, another real debate on Comedies and their place in The Academy Awards, especially when it comes to "Bridesmaids".

Join us next week as Mikey gives a very special Music Minute... another Buried Treasure is unearthed... Part 2 of "The Saddest Songs Ever", giving you #20 through 16 with some Superstars, some pre-skank Mariah and some Phil Collins--but no, not that song, the other one.  Plus, The Big Three Movies that We Feel Like We Should Have Seen By Now... that's all on The Deucecast Episode XXXIX:  Podcast Free or Die Hard.

Get into the Zone!  The Deucecast Zone!   That's right... its another week, and another episode in the can.  The Deucecast Episode XXXVII: Podcast Harder!

We welcome back Hurricane Rhett and SuperFan Drew into the studio this week, as we kick things off with, finally, a good tasting of a decent beverage.  The Pop Shoppe lets us try a little cola, a little black cherry, a little orange and a little grape, and for once, its not too bad.

Mikey regales us with his troubles with Firestone Tire, d$ tells of the incompetance of some Best Buy workers, Rhett spills on his love of Mango Strawberry Fruitista and the problem getting them, and both Rhett and d$ share a common Ruby Tuesday's story.

(and yes, I use the company names... hey Firestone, Best Buy, Taco Bell and Ruby Tuesday's--want me to not use your company name?  Have better service.)

Steve Guttenberg gets his proper due on this episode of The Deucecast

Another year, another podcast for your listening, laughing, loving and learning pleasure... its Episode XXXVI: Podcast Hard.  While keeping tabs on the Discover Orange Bowl (and subsequent beatdown of Clemson at the hands of West Virginia), Mikey and d$ jump right in, discussing Christmas holidays, d$'s newborn's fabulous Christmas and a call-out to Wookiee's FourSquare addiction--and possible cooking of the books.

Mikey tells us of the magic, and crowds, of Walt Disney World and his first time on Star Tours... a great discussion on Captain EO... the upcoming Avatar project at Animal Kingdom... and spotting Nebraska and Bo Pellini.

Happy New Year! We're ringing/phoning it in with That Star Wars Episode!

Happy New Year from The Deucecast! Despite the best efforts of management, unionized workers won their lawsuit and had the week off! We hope you're enjoying some time off as well, and in the meantime, here's a fan-favorite episode until we're back in the studio Wednesday night. Join us Jan 4, 2012 at 8:30PM CST on Ustream.

STAR WARS STAR WARS STAR WARS STAR WARS STAR WARS STAR WARS

Its all Star Wars this time around, as on The Deucecast Episode XXV becomes a Star Wars Centric show! We talk about what we loved, what we liked, what we hold dear and what... well, what we didn't like. The Blu-Rays were released this past weekend, so we go indepth in Star Wars lore, what George did right, what he did wrong, and what he did that, frankly, we didn't even know he had done.

What are your favorite scenes from the movies? Is it Qui Gonn vs. Darth Maul, which is one of Matt's? Or the opening battle sequence in Revenge of the Sith, like Mikey? Or maybe the Yoda vs. Dooku fight in Attack of the Clones? And what does Rhett think of Yoda and Dooku? Not much, apparently. Find out why...

We dive into a little Weird Al, some Star Wars gangsta wrap, and even some old Saturday Night Live material with Nick Lava and his Star Wars lounge act. What are some of your favorite Star Wars experiences? Watching the movies with your kids? Standing in line for hours for tickets? A Star Wars Convention? Or the Christmas of 1983? And somehow, Dave Coulier makes it onto the podcast... we're not sure what happened there, to be honest.

And we dive into a little Star Wars Trivia, with some of the easiest questions you can possibly imagine... and somehow Mikey still stumbles.

That's all on The Deucecast Episode XXV: That Star Wars Episode...
